Tonight’s Fiesta Bowl matched two undefeated teams on a second mission for perfection. Ranked number 3 in the nation was Texas Christian University in a rematch from last seasons Poinsettia Bowl against the Broncos of Boise State where TCU defeated the undefeated Broncos 17-16. Tonight, using a trick play on their own 32 yard line, Boise State lined up on 4th. down when punter Kyle Brotzman hit wide-open Kyle Efaw (80) with a 30-yard strike with 9 minutes and change to play. The drive ended with a two-yard run play and a final score of Boise State 17, TCU 10. The Boise State Broncos have become  the second school ever to go 14-0, joining Ohio State in 2002.

During the post game with Chris Rose and Coach Jimmy Johnson of Fox Sports, Jimmy said the unspoken word, “playoffs” in College Football. How can the NCAA continue to discriminate against NCAA Division 1  football players? Discriminate? Yes, it’s 100% discrimination when college athletes from basketball, baseball and hockey have a playoff system where the coaches and teams compete for a national championship. If you’re in the dance you have a shot at winning it all. It shouldn’t matter if your playing on a field, court or in a rink.

Let’s see, it’s 2010 and the coaches, players and fans of NCAA Div. 1 College Football have to rely on some half-baked thing-a-ma-jig to analyze this stat with that stat with this difficulty of schedule with?…. on and on and on… We plug it into this computer and out pops an RPI and on and on and on… Would Duke’s head coach Mike Krzyzewski or, Louisville’s Rick Pitino or, Gonzaga’s Mark Few put up with this corporate–money crap? Hey, were playing for keeps… Let the coaches and players determine the final outcome, that’s why we play the games, isn’t it?

But, what about the money? We’d lose money if we let the coaches and players determine the outcome… Who’s number one? Are you sure? Number 1 Alabama plays number 2 Texas, the winner should play Boise State for the championship.
