The Reform Party
Republished on January 3, 2012
This page is dedicated to all Americans who believe as I that neither the two-party system or the mainstream press represent the best interests of the American people or our great nation. Over the last 13 years, the U.S. press (with the exception of C-SPAN in 2011/see corrections below) and our bi-partisan government have done all they could to destroy the credibility of this Independent political force. The tireless effort of many U.S. citizens throughout America have worked to keep the message of the reform movement alive. I personally invite all of you to read and learn more about the Reform movement and their ideas to save America from powerful domestic and foreign agents of influence.
Where we’ve been:
A historical look back at the Reform Party from a Pacific Northwest perspective. The Reform Party – What Went Wrong And Why (part 1) and The Reform Party – What Went Wrong And Why (part 2).
Where we’re headed. The future of RPUSA is 100% dependent on you. Please, do your homework by reading the information here and on other websites. After you’ve digested all of the information you can find about the Reform movement, ask yourself this question; Does U.S. government at every level work in the best interests of all Americans? And, Is the mainstream press working for or against the political will of all Americans? I believe the American mainstream press is greed driven when it comes to covering American politics.
I further believe that U.S. Elections are a gigantic cash cow for television broadcast companies.
“Change We Can Believe In” was a great slogan. However, change will never come without “Real Reform” and, real reform will never take place unless Independent voters unite as one for the common good of the United States of America.
Give this movement whatever name you want. I’m not interested in some pissing match with the powers that be for the ‘official use’ of the Reform Party name. Without the active work of you and I the name ‘reform party’ is meaningless.
Let us unite as one. Right now, not tomorrow or the day after. Become an active player in this historic Independent effort.
Since 1996, the Reform Party movement has been on life support. This website isn’t worried about who’s feathers become ruffled on Wall or K-Streets. We’re equally not worried about who becomes prosecuted and held accountable for control/accounting fraud that created our nations economic meltdown. In closing, I personally don’t care if any or all mainstream press organizations fail economically, they’ve certainly already failed when it comes to objective coverage in all American elections.
C-SPAN broadcast, The Contenders, Ross Perot, Fall of 2011 –Thank you Susan Swain and C-SPAN for producing and televising the political activities of H. Ross Perot. Even with Perot’s many shortcomings, I’ll always have love and admiration to Mr. Perot for waking myself up to what’s still wrong with American government. As for this broadcast, here’s the corrections I’d like to offer…
1) Douglas Brinkley, Professor at Rice University stated, “Perot believed in never leaving anybody behind, Perot believed in loyalty to those who were loyal to him.” If this were true, why did Perot choose to not campaign for his co-reform party candidates in 1998 and beyond? Fact, In 1998 and beyond, Perot wasn’t loyal to those who put Perot on the ballot in all 50 states in 1992 and 1996… In 1992 Perot said, “I want to see some sweat” when asked by Larry King if he’d run for President. What Perot meant was he wanted a grassroots effort to place his name on the ballot in all 50 states by the many activists who supported government reform. In 1998 and beyond, some of these very supporters were running for public office and expected Perot to return the favor.
“In 1998, Perot was nowhere and many Reform candidates across America felt abandoned by little, if any, National Reform Party support or leadership…” –Steven Thompson, 1998
2) Carolyn Barta, Professor of Journalism at SMU stated, “In 2000 the Reform Party presidential candidate had ballot status in all 50 states.” This statement isn’t correct. In 1998 the Reform Party of Washington State was required to run a statewide candidate who would then earn 5% of the general election vote in order to maintain major party ballot status for 2000. This feat would of been easily accomplished had Ross Perot provided the same level of effort he provided to RNC candidates in 2004 (Perot gave stump speeches in multiple states supporting candidates who’d signed on to Newt Gingrich’s Republican Contract With America)…
3) Carolyn Barta wins the FFTP friendship award for making this, the most important statement of the two-hour must-see C-SPAN program about H. Ross Perot. She said, “Since 1992, The media has become more dominate and powerful.” This statement was in response to the fact that Independent or third-party candidates may never be able to obtain the level of attention that Ross Perot received in 1992… In 2008, Senators Obama and McCain raised and spent almost two billion dollars in their campaigns to become President… Not since 1992 have more than two candidates participated in any Presidential general election debate. Why? Because both the RNC and DNC wanted to create a future climate that would exclude outside competition…

The two major parties cannot be broken by a third party. These two parties will follow the evolution of the British two-party system from which they came. That system was started by King Charles II, using a division which arose in Parliament over the possible ascension to the throne of his brother James, which was opposed by wealthy merchants because of his Catholic religion. This faction was named after a Scottish separatist group called Whigamores, shortened to Whigs. The opposition to Whigs in Parliament were given the derisive name of Tories by their opponents, the name of a notorious band of Irish highwaymen. Charles II alligned himself with the Tories because they upheld the divine right of kings, but his real purpose was to divide and weaken Parliament, which had beheaded his father, Charles I, for treason. Charles II announced that he would appoint all of his cabinet ministers from the faction which held a majority in Parliament, a move which proved so successful at restoring the power of the monarchy that it was written into English law during the reign of Queen Anne. In the meantime, the unpopular reign of James II, which ended in his deposement by his daughter Mary and her husband William of Orange, had elevated the Whigs into power, resulting in a period of political corruption that caused the Whigs to be voted out of power by the people, and the Tories to be elevated among promises of reform and good government. The Whig Party faded into oblivion, setting the pattern for the demise of parties founded on Whig principles, its place in government taken by the Tories, who were opposed by a new party in Parliament, the Labor Party. By 1776 the Tory and Labor Parties had raised taxes so high that the American colonies revolted.
This brings us to the rise of two-party politics in America. The founding fathers had no use for political parties and blamed political parties in England for causing the Revolutionary War. The first two Presidents of the United States both spoke out against the formation of political parties in America. In the meantime, elections were held. The voters in those elections were all independent voters. There were no organized political parties in the country.
However, Alexander Hamilton, Washington’s Secretary of the Treasury, and his political cronies began to engage in the kind of political and financial corruption that the Whig Party in England had become famous for, calling themselves Federalists. Thomas Jefferson and James Madison tried to organize opposition to Hamilton and the Federalists. At first they just wrote newspaper articles and pamphlets, but with the election of 1800 approaching, and Thomas Jefferson a candidate for President, they decided to organize a political party. They hit upon the idea of caucuses, extra-legal use of elected officials in the capacity of party organization. This was so successful that the Federalists ceased to exist, and there was one party government in the United States for a long period of time. The power of the Democratic Party is founded on this principle, similar to the idea behind the Tory Party of England: the divine right of political parties in the United States.
Since that time there have existed the kind of voters that existed before political parties existed in America, independent voters, largely ignored by political parties, since they could not be elected to public office in a society where all media was controlled by political party candidates with money they had in one way or another taken from public revenues. The exception to this was the active campaign by Andrew Jackson and Martin van Buren in the 1830′s to convince Americans that political parties were necessary in American government, which set the stage for the party contentions that resulted in the Civil War.
We see that the pattern for party contentions in the United States is controlled by the Democrats, the party which came to us directly from the Republican Democrat Party started by Thomas Jefferson. The Republicans arose because of Democratic Party support for slavery in the United States. Their financial corruption started in the Civil War carried the Republicans until the Great Depression, when they reaped the reward of their political intrigues.
So now we have two parties which work dilligently to undermine each other, calling it two-party government. Americans need to take charge of their own destiny, not following the mistakes in government made by Europeans. The idea of third party participation has come and gone. The stranglehold of the two major parties is too strong. They can stop a third party. What they cannot stop are independent voters.
Independent voters are not a third party. They are individual United States citizens registered to vote. They have existed since the United States has existed because they were created by the formation of the United States. As George Washington noted, political parties do not have a Constitutional origin, but are self-created societies which seek to control government.
What independent voters have to overcome are un-Constitutional election laws which exist at state level written to exclude independent voters from becoming candidates for office. Independent voters now find themselves to be the largest group of voters in the United States. The people can see that political parties do not provide good government, but political parties have exclusive ballot access. What can the people do?
They need to go to their state governments and register as independent candidates for all political offices. Any ordinary American citizen who is registered to vote as an independent voter or who registers as an independent candidate for office is a greater protector of American freedom than any number of troops in Iraq. The same cannot be said of political parties. Political parties have given us a Civil War, a Great Depression, two World Wars, Vietnam, 9/11, Iraq, and the present economic disaster.
Isn’t it time to stand up for free and open elections?
How does a third party promote free and open elections?
Any political party is just more of the same European nonsense. When do we get to practice our own form of government here in the United States?
Robert B. Winn
Thank you for a nice history of political parties in England, with that influence on American political parties.
What do you know of the demise of the Whig Party of America in the 1850s?
And my only difference is that Jefferson did NOT create the Republican Democrat party as you write, NOR the “Democratic-Republican Party” as most hysterical historians write, Jefferson created the Republican Party.
That limited government party was changed by Jackson into the Democratic-Republican Party.
The name Republican Party was resumed by John C. Fremont in the 1856 election, and Lincoln transmogrified the limited government concept of a Republican Party into an all-intrusive government party to promote his war.
'The Power of The People'. We should not fear our government; they should fear us — We the People! It is our Duty to Question Authority and Demand Answers. We must be the Watch Dogs over our elected officials and make sure that they maintain the 'System of Checks and Balances', which is a safe guard to prevent excessive power grabs by either the judicial, legislative or executive branch of our government; which were designed by our founding fathers as they established a ‘Separation of Powers’, on purpose.
Unfortunately, far too many people have Fallen Asleep and our politicians get the checks as the lobbyists hold the balance. Alas, our system has turned to a Free for All; fraught with corruption as temptation, collusion and intimidation overwhelm in the name of the almighty dollar by a greedy Den of Thieves. God Help Us! United we stand, divided we fall. It's time to reconsider & redefine our values & get our priorities in order. It's not a Democratic or Republican Thing. It's about Corruption. Wake Up & Think Purple! Knowledge is Power & What We Don't Know Is Destroying America!

In 1976 Several older people died within hours, after taken the shot; from heart attacks. There were also reports of the vaccine touching off neurological problems, especially rare ‘Guillain-Barre’ syndrome. Eventually, the government suspended the program, after inoculating 40 million people for a flu that never came.
