After over two years of litigation in Texas and New York, it is my profound pleasure to announce that US District Court Judge Joseph Bianco of the Eastern District of New York has ruled in our favor, and has further reinforced the 2008 ruling of Judge Carl Ginsberg of the 193rd District Court in Texas.
What does this mean?
The combination of the two rulings mean:
-The only valid RPUSA Convention held since 2004 has been the court-ordered and court-supervised 2008 Dallas Convention.
-The valid officers of the RPUSA are Chairman David Collison, Vice-Chairman Rodney Martin, Secretary Janelle Skinner-Weill, and Treasurer Beverly Kennedy.
-Any and all meetings that were called and/or arranged from 2005 onward by any other individuals claiming to be RPUSA officers were not valid meetings, and any actions taken by them have no effect. (This includes Conventions, Executive Committee meetings, and National Committee meetings. It also includes other national-level committee meetings deriving their authority from those meetings.)
-The only valid rules are those adopted at the court-supervised 2008 Dallas Convention.
What are the steps moving forward?
-With the NY injunction disposed of, and a Texas permanent injunction in our favor, we are going to be contacting many of you to actively and visibly participate in local, state, and national Reform Party efforts. These include a national Reform Party Building committee and others.
-Note that there has been a notice circulating of an alleged ‘convention’ this weekend in Connecticut. Our rules do not require a convention this year, that meeting was NOT called by the National Committee nor the Executive Committee, and the notice for that meeting was not issued by the valid officers. There will be no RPUSA business conducted at that meeting.
-We WILL be issuing a call for a teleconference National Committee Meeting on Saturday, December 19th. The state chairs will be contacted immediately to confirm their National Committee representatives and to seek their attendance.
