FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, D.C. February 9, 2012. Today, the United States government and numerous state governments reached a settlement agreement with five major banks to resolve lawsuits and investigations concerning foreclosure-abuses that fueled the financial “meltdown” and forced millions of Americans out of their homes.

David K. Colapinto, the General Counsel of the National Whistleblowers Center, and the lead attorney for one of the confidential mortgage industry whistleblowers, issued the following statement:

Once again whistleblowers risked their jobs and careers in exposing misconduct and abuse. Employee-whistleblowers were key insiders who knew how big banks scammed the system, ripping off homeowners and taxpayers alike. Some of these employees had the courage to step forward. Many lost their jobs when they tried to stop or report these crimes.

Under the False Claims Act, whistleblowers who voluntarily provided the U.S. government with original and truthful information that helped in the prosecution of the banks will obtain protection. As these cases are taken out of ‘seal,’ the public will learn the full scope of the contributions whistleblowers made in holding big banks accountable for the mortgage scandals and their foreclosure abuses.

Whistleblower cases under the False Claims Act are filed under ‘seal’ and are kept confidential to enable the government an opportunity to investigate the allegations. The Act, originally signed into law by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863, encourages whistleblowers to expose fraud. After the government concludes its investigation, the case can be unsealed by the court.

I applaud Mr. John King for asking any question about the character of any candidate running for any elective office. These individuals, above anything else, should set the example for all Americans. Leadership by Example.

Furthermore, I’ve requested that CNN/Mr. King becomes even more aggressive towards Newt Gingrich’s past political history. These statements of fact, not opinions, should see the light of day so all Americans fully know what we’re getting into if we’re going to nominate Newt Gingrich.

The 1994 Contract With America was an ELECTION PLOY to get Independents to vote for and support what became the, “Republican Revolution.” This fact should be fully addressed by forcing Newt Gingrich to explain his actions following the 1994 election. Gingrich abandoned the Contract With America when it became a political liability for him and his Republican colleagues. The same can be said for all of the conservative talk show hosts across the country who allowed Gingrich to slide further and further away from issues that all of them supported prior to the 1994 election.

Yes, tell the idiot voters what they want to hear in order to win their votes… This form of politics (blatant deception) must come to a friendly end. The mainstream press does the American people no favors when they allow politicians to get away with this form of premeditated political deception…

I’d love to hear what CNN chooses to do about this? Doing nothing isn’t an acceptable option…

Dear CNN,

Help me understand… Debates are held on FoxNews and CNN. Election coverage goes on through-out each and every day, 24/7. Both networks continue to place the majority of their focus on the battle between the “social conservatives”. Entire news segments (airtime) are given where only “social conservatives” are mentioned. Why do you choose to ignore certain candidates over others?

To be fair shouldn’t election news/programs give equal time to “fiscal conservatives”? And what about candidates (who are getting ignored) that happen to be both, social and fiscal conservative?

As for Mr. Gingrich? I’m hearing broadcast TV news segments where Gingrich is receiving credit for his 1994 Contract With America. Contract? really? Truthful analysis will discover these facts about Gingrich and his republican revolution. The fact that nobody is talking about this whenever the subject comes up is part of the bias that I’m always writing about.

Fact #1) The Contract With America was an election ploy to get Independents (mostly 1992 Perot supporters) to vote for and support GOP candidates in the 1994 election. Perot himself stumped in multiple states for candidates who signed onto the Gingrich Contract With America. Still in denial? Ask your TV pundit buddy Ed Rollins.

Fact #2) The infamous Contract With America wasn’t a “contract” at all, Concept With America would of been more accurate. Shortly after becoming House Speaker, Gingrich abandoned many of the key issues that made up the Concept With America. When questioned by Independent radio talk show hosts (who have since disappeared) Gingrich stated, “We were only obligated to bring these issues to the floor of the House.” Meaning, we’re not committed to seeing these issues passed into law. Had this revelation been made public prior to the 1994 elections, incumbent House Speaker Tom Foley may not of been defeated.

Fact #3) The Republican Revolution candidates would later support and vote to gut the regulations of the Glass Steagal Act. This Gingrich supported action paved the way for massive financial fraud that eventually crashed the U.S. economy. Senate bill S-900 was crafted by former Senator Phil Gramm who later went onto become a U.S. executive for the Swiss Bank UBS.

Fact #4) 2012 (pro-establishment) election bias is no better than that of 1994, 1996, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 or 2010. Look at what’s happening to America and ask yourself what could we do to protect America from it’s current path of self-destruction? Please CNN, if you don’t know the truth, dig deeper…and, if neither social conservatives or their liberal friends have any real solutions, ask a fiscal conservative or Independent.

Yes, Americans are waking up. To how they’re being made to pay for Wall Street’s malfeasance and Washington’s complicity. Paying with stagnant wages and lost jobs, with slashing cuts to their benefits and to their social services. And waking up to the grotesque Supreme Court decision defining a corporation as a person, although it doesn’t eat, breath, make love or sing, or take care of children and aging parents. Waking up to how campaign contributions corrupt our elections; to the fact that if speech is money, no money means no speech.

Occupying A Cause
Essay by Bill Moyers | billmoyers.com

BILL MOYERS: By coincidence I first met with Jacob Hacker and Paul Pierson on the very day Occupy Wall Street had sprung up in lower Manhattan. And I wondered, as so many others did, were we seeing the advance guard of a movement by organized people to challenge the power of organized money? Well, it’s still too soon to know. But in the weeks that followed, every time we went down to the encampment, there was no mistaking the message.

LINNEA PALMER PATON: I don’t have thousands of dollars to go buy myself a lobbyist to lobby for my views, but corporations do.

BILL MOYERS: Linnea Palmer Paton is 23 and an Occupy Wall Street Volunteer.

LINNEA PALMER PATON: This is supposed to be a government for the people, run by the people and if our voices don’t matter because we’re not wealthy, that’s really unacceptable and it’s dangerous.

HERO VINCENT: My name is Hero Vincent, I’m 21 years old. I’ve been here since day one. My parents were foreclosed on, my father’s been unemployed a couple of years. My mother was the only one taking care of the family for a while. I’ve been working since I’ve been 14 years old, you know, trying to put food on our table, trying to help out with the bills. So all these circumstances– my sister is in college and she– we can barely afford it, you know. And so it brought us here. The struggle brought us to this occupation, this day, this moment.

[NATSOT]: It ain’t hard to occupy if you’re set on freedom.

BILL MOYERS: Amin Husain is a former corporate lawyer. He’s now an artist who has become one of the many organizers of Occupy Wall Street.

AMIN HUSAIN: This connection between government and state regulating money and the flow of money at the expense of 99 percent of the population is untenable and it’s no longer being accepted. There’s been a shift in the way that people think of themselves in this political process. That there has been a level of empowerment. But this movement is about transforming society.

WOMAN AT PROTEST: I just need to interrupt one second and say you’re doing a great! I love you. All of us who are sleeping at home, we’re writing letters, we’re thinking about you.

AMIN HUSAIN: Thank you, thank you. I really appreciate it.

WOMAN AT PROTEST: We’re changing our bank accounts!

YESENIA BARRAGAN: My family’s home was almost foreclosed in Hackensack, NJ. First by Providian Bank, then by Bank of America, then Chase. The names changes. And we were almost homeless.

BILL MOYERS: Yesenia Barragan is working for her doctorate in Latin American history at Columbia University.

YESENIA BARRAGAN: We were able to gather enough resources, enough money within our family to save the house. So we like to say that we were the lucky ones. And I’m basically here because I don’t want to live in a world where there are lucky ones and unlucky ones.

DANIEL LYNCH: My name is Daniel Lynch, I live in Manhattan. And in my spare time I try to trade stocks. I might even be center-right! And I still support this, and I want people to know that, right, 99 percent exactly, right? I’ve been worried for a long time about problems with wealth inequality in the country, income inequality, and I just wanted to throw my support a little. I don’t march, I don’t carry a sign. But I come down at night I talk to some people.

I believe in capitalism, I believe in capital markets. But unchecked like this, especially the way we have estate taxes, income taxes, it subverts capitalism, it becomes feudalism. Owners of capital are winning so much more than laborers, right capital it has no roots, right? To just deny that that’s happening and not have a little bit of an activist tax policy about it, I think is naïve, it’s destructive, and it’s just absurd.

NELINI STAMP: My name is Nelini Stamp, I’m 24 years old.

BILL MOYERS: Nelini Stamp is a community organizer. She joined Occupy Wall Street on its first day.

NELINI STAMP: I’ve been fed up with having to worry about living pay check to pay check because of corporate greed and because we don’t have a very high minimum wage in New York. I really just wanted to take a major leap in fighting back.

I think that we need to, first of all, have public financing of elections. That is a huge deal one of the reasons is why corporations– because there’s an unlimited amount of donations that they can give to political campaigns. And it’s about time we all stand up and take this back.

TYLER COMBELIC: I found my voice. I’ve been very apathetic, very cynical of the system that: do I matter? Do I matter to politicians? Do I matter to government when policies are being made?

BILL MOYERS: Tyler Combelic is a volunteer with the media outreach team.

TYLER COMBELIC: Personally, I want to see money out of government. I’m a very big proponent of campaign finance reform, of limiting the role of lobbyists, and limiting the role of corporate personhood because I feel right now, who has the largest war chest is the determiner of who’s going to be elected for a specific office or what kind of laws are going to be passed by Congress. And that corporatist-type of government is not what the United States is supposed to be.

MAN AT PROTEST: You got a better chance of being an organ donor than seeing any retirement money!

PETER CRAYCROFT: I think this is a perfect kind of forum for us all to come and talk about–

STEPHEN HAYS: Back and forth.

PETER CRAYCROFT: Yeah. I’ve seen many souls changed in the last three days.

STEPHEN HAYS: Really?

PETER CRAYCROFT: Yeah. On all sides. Including the other side of the–

STEPHEN HAYS: You see I came through the Woodstock generation and I thought it’s just back to business as usual and sort of it was a big party. That’s what I see this as, a party with no cover. I’m a defender of money. Freedom, individual freedom, rich people. Because I’m still, even though I’ve got gray, I’m still trying to be one. Because the more money I have the more good I can do. And it will be my decision as to how I allocate that good. How I allocate that capital.

When I look around at all these buildings, hospitals, colleges, I don’t see many poor people’s names. They’re all rich people. Reverend Ike a black minister who used to preach up here in New York. Used to say, “If you curse the rich, you’ll never be one.”

CALVIN BELL: Look at the people out here! You think they’re out here just hanging out? I mean, that blows my mind that you came out here and you said, well, people out here, you know, they have something against wealthy people, you know, wealthy people should be allowed to be wealthy people, because while we’re wealthy people we’ll throw money out and sprinkle them all and make people’s lives better. It’s not happening. Wealthy companies are not making the common person’s lives better. They’re taking their money, they’re moving it abroad, they’re doing different things. What’s that got to do with anything?

STEPHEN HAYS: You’ve got a nice camera, you’ve got clothes, you’re blessed.

CALVIN BELL: I just told you that I’m not one of the ones—

STEPHEN HAYS: I can’t be so pessimistic about things.

CALVIN BELL: I’m being realistic.

I live in a very nice house, my family’s blessed. So I’m not going to pretend that, you know, I don’t have anything. But I do also recognize that a lot of the situations we’re in now is because of greed. It’s because – it’s not what he said, you just let people take their money and they’ll do good things with it. Not all people do good things with their money.

WILLIAM K. BLACK: (During a teach-in) The one percent have dominant political power over both parties.

BILL MOYERS: Organizers invited Bill Black to lead a teach-in at “the people’s microphone.”

WILLIAM K. BLACK: (During a teach-in) How many think they stole from all of us?

BILL MOYERS: A senior federal regulator in the 1980s, Black cracked down on banks during the savings and loan crisis. He now teaches economics and law at the University of Missouri, Kansas City.

WILLIAM K. BLACK: What we have is recurrent, intensifying financial crises driven by elite fraud and now it’s done with almost absolute impunity. So the whole idea of noblesse oblige and such and that the rich were supposed to have special responsibilities, that’s all gone, right? They have a God-given right to the lowest conceivable taxes.

When you put anti-regulators in charge of the agencies who believe that regulation is bad and completely unnecessary and they destroy it, creates a self-fulfilling prophecy that produces massive fraud at the most elite levels.

But, worse, it all feeds into politics. So, once you get a group that completely dominates the economy, they’re going to completely dominate politics, as well.

WILLIAM K. BLACK: (During a teach-in) There is no excuse for not prosecuting. It is an obscenity. It’s surrender to crony capitalism.

WILLIAM K. BLACK: What’s distressed me, and I think is one of the major reasons we get recurrent intensifying crises, is we seem to have lost our capacity for outrage. And it’s only people getting outraged that produces really positive social change.

[NATSOT]: We are the 99 percent! So are you! We are the 99 percent! So are you!

MARILYN BRANDEE: I’ve been waiting years for people to get angry enough to do something. We want to just support these young people and the people who are sacrificing so much comfort for all of us.

RONNI TERR: I have a brother who’s been out of work for two years. He has a family, I think it’s just terrible that they don’t care. They’re making millions of dollars. Mitch McConnell is a multi-millionaire, John Boehner is a multi-millionaire. They don’t care about the people, they really don’t. And their own districts have many people who are unemployed, who are having foreclosures. And it’s time they stop playing this game and really said, you know I think maybe we’ll pass something that will help build our infrastructure or get people back to work. So this is a start, I hope that it makes a dent. But the fact that it’s not just here, it’s all over the country now, means that somebody is waking up.

BILL MOYERS: Waking up is right. Waking up to the reality that inequality matters. It matters because what we’re talking about is what it takes to live a decent life. If you get sick without health coverage, inequality matters. If you’re the only breadwinner and out of work, inequality matters. If your local public library closes down and you can’t afford to buy books on your own, inequality matters. If budget cuts mean your child has to pay to play on the school basketball team or to sing in the chorus or march in the band, inequality matters. If you lose your job as you’re about to retire, inequality matters. And if the financial system collapses and knocks the props from beneath your pension, inequality matters.

I grew up in a working class family. We were among the poorest in town, but I was rich in public goods.

I went to a good public school, played sandlot ball in a good public park, had access to a good public library, drove down a good public highway to a good public college, all made possible by people I never met. There was an unwritten bargain among the generations — we didn’t all get the same deal, but we did get civilization.

That bargain’s being shredded. The occupiers of Wall Street understand this. You could tell from their slogans. A fellow young enough to be my grandson wore a t-shirt emblazoned with the words: “The system’s not broken. It’s fixed.” That’s right. Rigged. And that’s why so many are so angry. Not at wealth itself, but at the crony capitalists who resorts to tricks, loopholes, and hard, cold cash for politicians to make sure insiders prosper and then pull up the ladder behind them.

So the collective cry has gone up loud and clear: enough’s enough. We won’t, as I said, know for a while if this is just a momentary cry of pain; or whether it’s a movement that, like the Abolitionists and Suffragettes, the populists and workers of another era, or the Civil Rights movement of our time, gathers force until the powers-that-be can no longer sustain the inequality, the injustice and yes, the immorality of winner-take-all politics.

Our coverage of politically engineered inequality continues in our next two broadcasts. First, David Stockman, a one-time enforcer of the Reagan revolution.

DAVID STOCKMAN: There was clearly reckless, speculative behavior going on for years on Wall Street. It was encouraged by the Federal Reserve which is dominated by Wall Street.

BILL MOYERS: And John Reed, a banker’s banker who was there when Washington loaded the dice, and Wall Street rolled them.

JOHN REED: It wasn’t that there was one or two or institutions that, you know, got carried away and did stupid things. It was, we all did. And then the whole system came down.

BILL MOYERS: And at our new website, BillMoyers.com, I interviewed two Occupy Wall Street organizers who give us insight into the movement and what it hopes to accomplish. We’ll also link you to our interview with the editors of Mother Jones magazine, and their coverage of the “dark money” that has cast a deep shadow across this election year. That’s at BillMoyers.com. See you there, and see you here next time

Steven Thompson, Editor
Freedom From The Press

Were the actions over this last weekend (01/07/2012) by those who sponsored and managed the two New Hampshire Republican Presidential debates, ABC Television on Saturday and NBC TV/Facebook on Sunday, illegal? And if not, should they be?

If you haven’t already done so, surf to Buddy Roemer’s Presidential website and get acquainted. Governor Roemer is just as qualified to run for President of The United States as Romney, Paul, Santorum, Gingrich, Perry or Huntsman.

Why Gov. Roemer continues to be excluded from the process is unprecedented. The only real difference is the fact that Roemer is questioning the absurd role of money in political elections. I haven’t heard one word from the rest of the pack about having to solicit a massive amount of money from either corporate interests or individuals in order to run for public office. Nor have we heard much about the public option for campaign financing where candidates are then limited on the amounts of money they can raise.

Something’s rotten with this entire process. Running for public office (in America) is like stepping up to a poker table. If you have a wad of available cash and are willing to feed the game (mainstream media), then those who are positioned to receive your money will recognize your existence by letting you play. Otherwise, you don’t exist and in this case, the electorate has to settle for a “hand picked” field. Whatever happened to the concept of letting the voters choose the viability or electability of any credible candidate(s)?

Sorry suckers! American democracy is DOA… The Courts, Congress and their friends in the mainstream media have deprived us all from free and fair elections…

FFTP Editor Steven Thompson’s comments: Plain and simple? Former Louisiana Governor and former U.S. Congressman Buddy Roemer should be allowed to participate in the Republican primary debates. Neither the RNC or Mainstream Media have constitutional authority to exclude legitimate candidates who are seeking public office. CNN, Fox News, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNBC, PBS should all be joining C-SPAN in providing equal time to candidate Roemer.

Pasted from Candidate Buddy Roemer’s Presidential Website @ buddyroemer.com

Gov. Roemer Gets Local Support To Be Included in GOP Debates

Manchester, NH– Governor Charles E. “Buddy” Roemer today responded to a Boston Globe editorial which makes the case for his inclusion in the upcoming New Hampshire debates. In fact, several local media outlets and GOP activists have been calling for the four-term Congressman and former Governor of Louisiana to be included.

The Boston Globe editorial (Dec. 27, 2011) said that Governor Roemer is “making a dedicated effort in New Hampshire, where he polled ahead of Texas Governor Rick Perry in one recent survey, and should be included in the Granite State debates on Jan. 7 and 8… Roemer is capable of bringing fresh energy to the long-running GOP show: It’s even possible to imagine him catching fire for at least a moment, the way the tag team of Trump-Bachmann-Perry-Cain-Gingrich have all taken turns as Mitt Romney’s sparring partner.”

NHGOP State Committeeman Steve Duprey agreed, saying “Governor Roemer has worked hard enough in New Hampshire to be in every debate.”

Roemer confirmed that his campaign has been the most involved in the New Hampshire primary. “We’ve attended the most town halls and GOP meetings,” said Roemer. “Other candidates chose to make Florida their national headquarters, or have consistently skipped the First in the Nation Primary. When was the last time anyone in New Hampshire saw Michele Bachmann? I’m from Southern New Hampshire – you can tell by my accent.”

Former NHGOP Chairman Fergus Cullen shared the Boston Globe’s sentiment about including Gov. Roemer:

“Part of what makes the New Hampshire primary work is that we provide a level playing field where lesser known, lesser funded candidates have an equal opportunity to get their message out and earn support. To me, any candidate who has been elected to federal or statewide office meets the credibility threshold for inclusion in a debate. Buddy Roemer meets that criteria, and he’s also been working hard in New Hampshire, too. I think Buddy has earned a podium on the debate stage, and I hope organizers will include him.”

Roemer has demonstrated his ability to speak to all kinds of Republicans and independent voters, including both TEA Partiers and Occupy protestors. At base, Roemer has said, “they both know that politics in America stinks. It’s about the money. Presidential candidates are bought and sold by special interests.”

Jerry DeLemus, Chairman of the Granite State Patriots Liberty PAC, expressed frustration over the exclusion of Roemer from the debates so far:

“New Hampshire is known for our motto ‘Live Free or Die.’ So how is it that in our state we fail to embrace New Hampshire’s independent nature? I am referring to the exclusion of voices that need to be heard and for whatever reason are being kept from being included in the Primary Debates. One candidate is Governor Buddy Roemer who has also served in the United States Congress. I have met and talked with Governor Roemer on a number of occasions, as well as heard him speak to a number of New Hampshire ‘Liberty Groups.’ Governor Roemer is the only candidate I have witnessed receive a standing ovation. In an election as crucial as our next Presidential election it is imperative to hear from candidates like Governor Roemer, and I urge the debate organizers to be inclusive and to invite him to participate, as the voters deserve to hear all voices and ideas.”

Jane Aitken of the NH Tea Parties Coalition pointed to Governor Roemer’s experience:

“Corruption, out of control spending, and big government are probably the three main problems America faces today. These issues are at the forefront of the Roemer campaign. Voters should not overlook Gov Roemer’s experience in breaking up corruption in Louisiana, which puts him on the front lines of those who have actually done something.”

Governor Roemer recently earned the endorsements of State Rep. John Burt (R-Goffstown) and Plymouth area conservative activist Henry Ahern. State Rep. Kevin Avard, who previously endorsed Governor Perry, said that he “would appreciate Governor Roemer being included in the upcoming New Hampshire debates. Buddy would be a great alternative to the current crop of GOP candidates.”

This event was sponsored and controlled by Fox News. The first hour, time was distributed evenly among the remaining seven candidates. During the second hour, at least two domestic topics were asked to all of the candidates except Ron Paul, these topics were about energy and immigration policy…

During a lively discussion on foreign policy, in my mind, Ron Paul won this debate when he said that Democrats are all about entitlements (government sponsored welfare) while Republicans are all about war (feeding the military industrial complex)… For most of the debate, Ron Paul won applause from the Iowans in attendance. That said, the room went cold when Paul spoke out against using Americas military might to control assets and territories outside of our U.S. borders…

Are Republicans in denial? Economically, can we continue our role of being the worlds policeman? I agree with Ron Paul, unless attacked, American forces should stay out of Iran… If the Iranians threaten the free world with the use of nuclear arms there are several regional countries that can deal with Iran, including Israel…

In addition, being an Independent, Ron Paul has my support and vote if he ends up running for President outside of the Republican party…

12/16/2011 -Ron Paul visits to the Tonight Show with Jay Leno (click link to view video clips) and states, “My favorite U.S. President is Grover Cleveland, a Democrat who believed in limited government and the use of the veto.” Thank you! Mr. Leno for being brave enough to invite Ron Paul to your show… I sincerely hope that you don’t pay too high a price for allowing Ron Paul the necessary access to educate America on where he’s stands on the issues and why all Americans should support Ron Paul for President…

Yes, you could call me a Hillbilly, an Oregon Hillbilly, and I won’t take offense. Some of my best friends are also Hillbillies. That does not make us stupid, just country folk that like to live very rural, far away from the big cities. That’s been a way of life here along the Oregon coast for generations. That’s all about to change if Governor Kitzhaber and his chief of staff get what they want.
Here’s their plan, Appoint a group of like minded business leaders to the Port of Coos Bay, park your chief of staff there with a tax paid salary of $7,500.00 a month, give him no duties to perform, no results of his work are expected or required while he is working for the government to lobby the government. He needs help so lets hire the former Senator Messerle to assist him with no performance required, and pay him $2,500.00 a month. While we’re at it lets get the Senator’s brother appointed to a Coos County Commissioners position, (not elected). Might as well give that guys wife the top position on a local development council (SCDC), who’s only job is to sell the proposed Jordan Cove Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal, to the local populace. The SCDC collects dues from its members and gets tax dollars as a non-profit. Lets put our people at every local position we can think of.

The North Bend Airport is right across the bay from the proposed LNG terminal, so lets get our people elected there, to make sure no objections come from the Airport. The top airport board member (Jon Barton), was an appointed commissioner of the port of Coos Bay, and is the only other paid employee of the tax collecting SCDC. But now he is more useful as the top airport board member, His buddy and former Coos Bay mayor is the other airport board member. Now absolutely no objections will be coming from the airport for safety reasons.

Two elected county commissioners died, so now we get to have two appointed county commissioners, lets change the rules of this county and privatize as much of the county government as we can get away with, lets make a bunch of committees and staff them with our chamber of commerce and SCDC buddies, then we will hire a county administrator, and rule by committee.

We need to buy the broken down railroad to ship the tanks of by-product gas that we can’t release in the air ( propane, butane, ect.) to Eugene where it can get shipped elsewhere. Lets buy the railroad, and get the tax payers to pay for it, ( Congressman Defazio’s job at the federal level ) and to fix it, Lets get their state representative ( Arnie Roblan) to work tirelessly at acquiring millions of state tax dollars to fix the railroad. Lets tell the public its to ship logs, lumber, and wood chips to market. Lets keep it a class 1 railroad, that will only be approved for 10 miles per hour, that way the federal government won’t look at us or require any upgrades and no passengers will be allowed or want to ride it. We will pass legislation that gives the port of Coos Bay complete control of our railroad and give them the power to make their own rules and increase their tax base along the entire 133 mile track to Eugene. Its OK that the top port commissioner (Jeffery Bishop) is allowed to give no-bid contracts for any repairs he feels are necessary, just tell people you have a customer that’s needs it right away, then when it is exposed that there is no order for Roseburg Lumber’s chips, we say we thought there was.

Lets get Senator Joanne Verger to procure 60 million dollars to dredge Coos Bay so the deep draft LNG ships can get in. Lets tell the people its for a container terminal that Oregon doesn’t need. Lets make sure the local Democrat Party only backs incumbents in any local election(s), that way we don’t have to bring in any new players. We need a new land use law that will allow anyone to get a dredge and fill permit to cross private land owners property without their knowledge or permission. We will sell it as a jobs bill, everyone will want it.

Lets see 16.5 million to buy the railroad (tax dollars), 6 million and counting to make repairs, (reports of 1/4? steel that looks like Swiss cheese on the bridges over three lakes), tracks that were slated for demolition by the previous owner, tunnels that need more repair. Total these millions and you will find we have the most expensive logs and wood chips in the world.

Astoria just got done with their fight against LNG, and won. It has been said that the plan was to put forward 3 LNG terminals and one would surely get built, the one in Coos Bay. Don’t forget we need to use eminent domain land seizure laws to build a 200 plus mile pipeline across the state of Oregon to send the gas to California, with no tap for Oregon. California won’t let LNG come ashore for safety reasons. It only has to stay an import terminal to use the eminent domain laws, then we can change it to an export terminal and sell America’s 100 year gas supply overseas. Lets give the developers tax free status, we don’t want to tax our Canadian friends.
Am I convinced that fraud and corruption are rampant in Coos County, absolutely. Is the Governor and his staff involved, absolutely. Will the rest of the state pay for their plans, absolutely.
What they should be doing is scrap the old rails, and get on board with the Obama plan to build high speed rail from northern Washington state to Eugene, and make a connecting spur to Coos Bay, people and freight could get here, our economy would boom, we could transform our economy and energy needs to renewable, and not spend the next 100 years in a gas fueled economy, which is their plan. Even in the city, you will be paying for this plan of their’s right along side us. If we get the two 40 million gallon LNG tanks and the 39 full time jobs they promise, I doubt any of you would want to come here as a tourist.

Not one elected official of ours has stood up and said no to LNG.
Now you know their plan. We didn’t have to worry about the Republicans, These elected Representatives are all Democrats.
But it’s up to you and me to make sure the voters understand the facts. We certainly can’t count on the national media to do that job!”

If there’s ever been an issue that needs to go viral-in-America it’s this…

U.S. Elections are 100% corrupted by corporations and the one percents (1%) money. Furthermore, What are the 99% doing to fix it?

Two Ads, Two States, One Million $$$, most of which ends up in the hands of broadcast radio and television networks, also referred to as the MSM on this and other “truth based” websites…

Summary

FACT: Our Political Process Is Corrupted By Big Money, How Do We Fix It?

SOLUTION: That’s easy, Make This Pledge, To Yourself And Country…

“I for one will only support and vote for federal candidates who will make the following statement binding and forever lasting policy as part of the FCC licensing process for all broadcast media outlets.”

Political Advertising will be FREE OF CHARGE for ALL CANDIDATES and ISSUES during ANY ELECTION where such candidates or issues appear on the official ballot. Failure to follow this policy will result in the termination of any or all FCC licenses held by such media outlet(s) or media network(s)… The end goal is to remove all profiteering from broadcast media in all U.S. Elections…

With this policy in place and full enforcement guaranteed, elections across these United States of America will finally become free and open to all who wish to proudly serve their nation, state, or community… Of, By and For “The People”… Without regard to personal wealth or personal/professional alliances…

Written by: Steven Thompson, Editor of FFTP &
U.S. Congressman Ron Paul

http://www.freedomfromthepress.net

In the early 1990′s, working class Americans were duped into believing in Newt Gingrich and his (Perot like) Contract With America… What we soon learned, after electing a large group of republicans (1994) to Congress (the “republican revolution”) was Newt’s total lack of sincerity. The Contract called for a large dose of political reforms that included term limits and real campaign finance reforms that would further limit unwanted corporate meddling in Americas electoral process… Months and years after, what America received was more of the same political corruption that many of us where beyond tired of. In addition, Newt’s republican revolution brought us the deregulation of laws (Glass-Steagall Act) that were created following the 1929 crash of Americas stock market.

What we now know is this… By electing republicans in 1994, thus promoting Newt Gingrich to House Speaker, the stage was set (via Senate Bill S-900) for the 2007 subprime mortgage crisis and 2008 global economic crisis that has all but destroyed Americas currency and middle class… And, as if this weren’t enough, Gingrich supported the creation and passing of NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) which was signed into law by President Bill Clinton… Thanks to both political parties, republican and democrat, the American family and workforce were forever screwed by corporations like Walmart and General Electric to name a few…

Where was Americas watchdog media (MSM)? They, as like today’s coverage of the republican debates, are bought and paid for, just like the majority of politicians who will publicly state that they represent us, the 99%… You know, folks like Newt Gingrich, President Barack Hussein Obama or, Mitt Romney…

And now, the latest from Congressman Ron Paul

NEWT: a “counterfeit conservative.”

I am going to describe a candidate for you right now, and I want you to think about whether or not you would support him.

This candidate was for the individual mandate that served as the model for “ObamaCare.” He was originally for the TARP bank bailouts before he was against them. He joined with Nancy Pelosi to promote the anti-business “global warming” agenda.

He slammed Paul Ryan’s budget plan as “extreme,” calling it “right wing social engineering.”

You might think I am talking about Mitt Romney. Heck, you might think I’m talking about a liberal Democrat. But I’m not.

That candidate I’m talking about is Newt Gingrich. He is what I like to call a “counterfeit conservative.”

And I have barely even scratched the surface!

My campaign team has put together a great video that tells you more about Gingrich and his liberal positions over the years. It tells you how he flip-flopped on a host of important issues.

And it shows, despite his claims, he is simply not a conservative.

You can take a look at the video HERE.

You might have seen recently that Mr. Gingrich traded on his former political office to land a $1.8 million lobbying contract with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Why is this so disturbing?

Because while these out-of-control federal agencies were ruining the housing market and causing millions of homeowners to lose their homes and life savings, Newt Gingrich was earning millions advising them.

At that same exact time, I was publicly declaring they needed to be stopped before they ruined the economy.

I guess Newt Gingrich and I have a different idea of what to do with federal bureaucracies. I fight to rein them in and shut them down before they can do harm. He pads his personal bank account while they wreck our economy.

While I was fighting environmental extremists, the out-of-control EPA, and the Soros-funded green movement, Newt Gingrich was filming commercials with Nancy Pelosi.

While I was fighting government bailouts, Newt was saying he would have voted FOR them.

Don’t be fooled by the words candidates use when they are running for office. Look hard at their records. My record is one of true limited government, anti-Washington, D.C. conservatism.

Newt Gingrich has a long record of liberal appeasement, flip-flopping on key issues, and lobbying for insider millions.

Millions. That’s right. Remember the individual mandate I mentioned earlier that Newt supported? His healthcare group received nearly $40 MILLION in contributions from the healthcare industry.

I have rarely seen a candidate who represents so much of what is wrong with Washington and what is wrong with our political system.

We can and must demand better.

We must demand REAL conservative values. We must demand a person who puts faith, family, and freedom ahead of all else. And we must demand a candidate who has remained true to principle his entire career.

I believe I am that candidate, and I ask you to take a look at my Plan to Restore America at www.ronpaul2012.com.

You can tell I mean every word in it — just as I’ve meant every word I have said in public life. And that’s something that everyone will admit, whether they agree with all of my positions or not.

With me, what you see and hear is what you get. Wouldn’t that be a nice change?

I am the only true conservative in the top tier of candidates running for the GOP nomination. And I ask for your support.

Together we can stop the counterfeit conservatives AND the liberals in the White House. We can take back and Restore America Now.

For Liberty,

Ron Paul

P.S. Whether it’s flip-flopping on TARP, supporting the individual mandate that served as a model for “ObamaCare,” joining with Nancy Pelosi in support of the global-warming crowd’s radical agenda, or making millions off of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as they helped destroy our economy, Newt Gingrich is trying to pull the wool over our eyes.

He’s what I call a “counterfeit conservative.”

Here’s an ad my campaign put together explaining his record of supporting liberal policies. Please take a moment to watch it.

And, if possible, contribute to my campaign as generously as you can to help me run this ad and get my message of liberty out with mail, internet advertising, and an all-out media blitz.

90 seconds. That's how much of the first hour of tonight's GOP debate was given to [Congressman] Ron Paul. 90 measly seconds out of 3,600 seconds.

90 seconds.

That’s how much of the first hour of tonight’s GOP debate was given to [Congressman] Ron Paul. 90 measly seconds out of 3,600 seconds.

The remaining 3,510 seconds were spent with the other major candidates:

** Declaring their desire to start wars in Iran, Pakistan, and Syria;

** Rehashing their support for torture;

** Agreeing that President Obama has the right to unilaterally assassinate an American citizen without a court conviction;

** Explaining their plans to continue nation-building, policing, and occupying countries across the globe.

It literally made me sick watching the mainstream media once again silence the one sane voice in this election. The one dissenter to a decade of unchecked war. The one candidate who stands for true defense and actual constitutional government.

Ron Paul was silenced, in perhaps the most important debate of the cycle.

You have to ask yourself why.

I think I know the answer. Both parties have perpetuated the foreign policy that is bankrupting our nation and tearing apart the world.

Both parties have started wars without proper congressional authorization.

Both parties have fabricated reasons for war.

Both parties’ outrageous spending has taken us to the brink of disaster.

And if the other candidates on the stage tonight are to be believed, then there is only one candidate who would break the globalists’ stranglehold over our foreign policy, our Treasury, and the lives of our family, friends, and neighbors in the armed forces.

Ron Paul could change history. He could save our great nation from its own devastating policies of the past 10 years.

If his voice could be heard.

The media has once again BLACKED OUT Ron Paul.

Will you let it stand??

After almost two days, our Veterans Day Weekend Money Bomb has raised $758,977.

No doubt, that is a powerful total.

But it is not enough. I have met with our accountants and media team, and we have determined we must raise an additional $500,000 in the next 24 hours to be able to run the ads and mail the letters we need in the next 10 days.

I know $500,000 more is a lot to ask.

But you just saw what we are up against.

The policies of unlimited war, torture, and bankruptcy were given 3,510 seconds to be heard in one televised hour of tonight’s foreign policy debate.

Ron Paul was given 90 seconds.

Peace was ignored. A sane national defense policy was shut out.

Rational spending and our Constitution were thrown out the window.

Only you can help make this right.

We can complain all we want, but the reality is this: the other side wins this debate – and their foreign policy carries the day – unless Ron Paul can break through.

As Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton said in a press release issued immediately after the debate, “CBS News, in their arrogance, may think they can choose the next President. Fortunately, the people of Iowa, New Hampshire, and across America get to vote and not the media elites.”

But Ron Paul needs you to help him reach those voters and WIN this race.

Can I count on you tonight?

Can Ron count on you over the next 24 hours?

Please help us fight back by clicking HERE right now to donate.

I hope you are as fed up and outraged as I am.

If you are, you will redouble your efforts to help Ron succeed on a night where the establishment did its best to shut out a veteran, a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, and the leading spokesman for a strong national defense.

For Liberty,

John Tate

In case you wondered whether or not the 912 and Tea Party movements were taken over by banksters, historically known as the robber barons, wonder no more. See below.

Mark Adams - An Honest American Patriot

Note that these clowns are promoting the only Federal Reserve Board member who is running for president in spite of the fact that the fathers of the 912 and the Tea Party movements, Glenn Beck and Ron Paul, have repeatedly called for taking control of the money supply away from the banksters who control the Fed.

Cain also worked with the Koch brothers in their successful efforts to take over these movements by simply starting Meetup Groups and relying on their knowledge that many are upset with how things are going, but have no clue why. Initially, their efforts coupled with widespread concern about the economy caused these groups to expand quickly. However, most people eventually realized that banksters had gained control of these movements, and as a result, participation dropped off dramatically.

Unfortunately, many who still show up at 912 and Tea Party events are so clueless that they will rally behind any person that their leaders tell them to. Fortunately, a few people still try to wake these people up, and fortunately, a new anti-bankster movement has sprung up which is much more difficult to control although the banksters are trying hard to do so. Unfortunately, the Occupy movement is also filled with people who are completely clueless.

After all, the banksters realized long ago that Thomas Jefferson was correct when he said, “If a Nation expects to be ignorant and free, it expects what never was and never will be.” Over a century ago, the robber barons realized that they could gain the power of the feudal lords of old if they could eliminate the knowledge about how we are supposed to be able to control government and replace it with a religious belief in government.

http://www.freedomfromthepress.net

Prior to the rise of the Internet, many important news stories were once ignored or heavily twisted to fit a certain result or agenda. Many lesser, underfunded newsrooms would simply use the local newspaper(s)-of-record for their daily content. The same could be said for local and some national talk shows. If the story made the paper is was covered by radio news and talk radio. If a story was ignored by the local paper it all too often went under-reported or not reported at all. This manipulation of the news-of-the-day became common in communities across America. If stories weren’t included in the newspaper they simply didn’t happen.

Without the Internet, would the MSM (Mainstream Media) be covering the Occupy Wall Street movement? Or, would tomorrow’s National Transfer Day be receiving national media attention? Just tonight, I heard a major network news agency going after Members of Congress for their lofty government pensions. The reporter went onto state that a congressional hearing would take place in January of 2012 to discuss the congressional pension issue. WOW! Would the MSM be interested in covering or promoting such a hearing if the power of the Internet didn’t exist?

Everywhere I turn, today’s (late 2011) MSM appears to have cleaned up their act. In Washington state, where I reside, network news affiliates are covering corrupt policemen for lying to government investigators in a case where the use of excessive force killed a retarded citizen (Google “Otto Zehm”).

Time will tell if the MSM can remain focused on public and government accountability. We’ve needed this shot of public trust and honesty for many years and I can only hold out hope that it will continue for all time.

Thank you! World Wide Web and those of you who are currently paying attention. Now, get out there and make a difference. If your bank or insurance company defrauded the public and then accepted bailout money, change banks and move your policies to a company you can trust. If your public officials violated your trust by providing government handouts to those who needed them least, vote them out and refuse to support businesses that received any direct benefits at the public’s expense. This would include shopping centers or sports stadiums that our municipal governments can no longer afford to maintain.

(In response to a letter from Senator Paul requesting money, see below)

Hello Sen. Paul,

I’d be really excited if you folks (Ron Paul 4 President) were addressing the absurdity of running for public office. Why do candidates need to raise millions of dollars to get their messages out? And, Where does all of this money go? Haven’t mainstream media companies made a fortune off political elections? Since the MSM is a direct recipient of massive amounts of “free money” (meaning they don’t have to do anything to earn it) what are the odds of campaign finance laws ever being reformed?

Congressman Paul needs a political machine and platform that he’s 100% committed too… The American people need a political tool that belongs to the American people… The RNC and DNC stand for nothing, e.g. both supported NAFTA and TARP… And, neither supported following U.S. laws as they pertained to the “Prompt Corrective Action Law”…

Thanks to pro Wall Street trade policy the American middle-class has been sold-out… We’re quickly becoming yet another “third-world” nation where we’re either rich or poor…

I could go on but who really cares… The United States of America needs to hit rock bottom before “We The People” will ever have the opportunity to fix her…our MSM won’t have it any other way…

(Original letter received by the committee to elect Ron Paul for President)

Dear Steven,

I hope you’re as excited as I am about our opportunity to win this race and make Ron Paul the next President of the United States.

I know our chances are excellent, because it’s clear the establishment is panicking and trying their best to keep the American people from hearing about Ron Paul.

But judging from recent polls showing Ron Paul within striking distance of first place for the Republican nomination and even beating President Obama in a head-to-head matchup, I also know our campaign’s efforts to break through the media blackout by going straight to the voters are working.

On October 19th, you’ll have a chance to help us expand these efforts and reach millions of more voters by contributing to the “Black THIS Out” Money Bomb.

Please, pledge today to donate during this event.

Now is the time to stand up for limited constitutional government and send a clear message to the establishment that we refuse to let them handpick the Republican nominee in 2012.

Every election, you and I are told that the only candidates who can win are those who will protect the status quo.

And we saw how well that worked out for the Republican Party in 2008.

Our country simply cannot afford any more politicians who put power before people and change their views depending on the latest poll.

We need a strong, proven leader who can be trusted to make the tough decisions necessary to get America back on track.

I know I’m a little biased, but I firmly believe no other candidate can even come close to matching my dad’s consistent conservative record.

And once voters get all the facts on the Champion of the Constitution, I think they’ll agree.

So will you pledge to donate on October 19th and help ensure the Ron Paul campaign can continue to reach the American people with the freedom message?

The truth is, if you’ve ever felt angry at how Ron Paul has been mistreated by the media, this is the perfect time to let them know what you think of their shameless so-called “reporting.”

Can you imagine the message we will send to the gatekeepers if we can make this our strongest fundraising day so far in this campaign?

They’ll know their efforts to discourage us have not only failed but completely backfired.

And the American people will see once again that no other candidate has such a powerful grassroots base of support.

So please, stand with Ron Paul on October 19th by contributing to the “Black THIS Out” Money Bomb. You can join thousands of other Americans in pledging here to donate on that day.

Together, let’s show the establishment that no trick they pull will stop Ron Paul’s message from getting to the voters.

For Liberty,

Senator Rand Paul, Kentucky

P.S. The media thinks it can get us to back down by refusing to give fair coverage to my dad’s campaign.

On October 19th, you’ll have a chance to show them that their efforts have not only failed but completely backfired.

Pledge today to donate to the October 19th “Black THIS Out” Money Bomb and help our campaign continue to bypass the media blackout by going straight to the voters with Ron Paul’s message of freedom and limited constitutional government.

As if TBS and Major League Baseball (MLB) weren’t enough, NASCAR, Charlotte Motor Speedway and ESPN on ABC cannot resist their profiting from Wall Street bailout money…

Will U.S. corporations ever resist accepting government handouts from a treasury department that’s been bankrupt for years? Fans of NASCAR and Major League Baseball should boycott the remaining games and races… These greedy corporate entities should tell Bank Of America to use its available advertising budget to begin in the process of repaying the U.S. Treasury… The use of bailout revenue to advertise for future growth of a corrupt corporate institution should be illegal… Why President Obama doesn’t raise this issue and take this position should be all the proof we need to vote him out…

In my opinion, issues such as this is why I’m supporting the Occupy Wall Street protest(s)…

As always, I’d love to know what you’re thinking?

Is Bailout Money Received By Bank Of America Being Used To Sponsor Major League Baseball And, Those Broadcast MLB Games?

Are you (as I) a disgusted middle or low income American? Does your memory (as mine) allow you to recall political events as far back as 2009? In case you’ve forgotten, Congress and President’s Bush and Obama supported and authorized a 700+ Billion dollar bailout for (favored) corrupt financial institutions that included Bank of America…

Why, in 2011 should we care to remember this dark period in Americas political history?

Perhaps, as I, you’re the type of American who believes in holding people accountable for their corruption or illegal actions…

Earlier tonight, I happened to stop on the cable TV channel formerly known as Superstation WTBS Atlanta… As the camera’s closed in on either dugout (Yankees vs. Tigers) and behind home plate one could easily see who the major sponsor of this MLB playoff game happened to be… YES, it was Bank of America, a recipient of Billions of U.S. Taxpayer Bailout dollars who also bought out Countrywide Mortgage who has profited from predatory lending and the foreclosure of tens of thousands of elderly Americans…

These undeniable facts beg the question, Is Bailout Money Received By Bank Of America Being Used To Sponsor Major League Baseball And, Those Who Broadcast MLB Games?

The obvious undeniable answer is YES…which begs the question of, Why Should Americans Support Bank of America, Major League Baseball or Mainstream Media Companies (Like TBS) Who Cannot Resist Accepting U.S. Taxpayer (bailout) Money?

I’d love to read what you’re thinking and whether or not you will hold these corporations accountable…
